Our research and AdiCell technology

Successfully treating arthritis with stem cells

Our research focuses on treatment of arthritic diseases in animals. Currently, our technology, called AdiCell™, helps dogs with arthritic joints heal and lead more active lives. To date the results of our clinical trials have been excellent.

These trials use dogs already suffering from arthritis, due to age, wear and tear of joints, or injury. Regeneus takes an ethical position. It does not inflict animals with an arthritic disease for research purposes.

Using regenerative cells from your dog’s own fat tissue

AdiCell involves removing a sample of your dog’s fat tissue. Healing stem cells in this sample are prepared for reinjection into your dog’s arthritic joint at the Regeneus Animal Health Clinic. The technology is both safe and effective. There is no rejection of the cells as they come from your dog’s body, and no complications common to many surgeries.

Why we use fat cells

We use fat cells, called adipose cells, for three main reasons:

  1. Fat cells are easy to collect, unlike other methods
  2. Fat cells contain high quantities of mature stem cells – much more than other technologies, e.g. use of bone marrow stem cells
  3. Fat contains several cell types that help the process of regeneration and include anti inflammatory properties
